July 20--The Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center has chosen a new physician group to lead its emergency department in hopes of improving service and reducing patient wait times.
EmCare, a Dallas-based company, arrived July 1 to replace Sheridan Healthcare.
Sheridan had provided physician coverage for the ER since the hospital opened last year.
Tim Tobin, chief executive officer for Spotsylvania Regional, said yesterday that the emergency department scores well on patient satisfaction surveys, even though many patients must wait 30 minutes or more to be seen by a provider.
