July 12--A 78-year-old Loveland woman killed in a two-vehicle crash around noon Monday was a passenger in a homemade dune buggy. Joy Lutz, 78 was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, at the intersection of Weld County roads 13 and 38, about 10 miles northwest of Platteville.

The dune buggy was driven by Wally Birkley, 69, of Berthoud, who was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies and was in serious condition Tuesday, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Suffering only minor injures but receiving a summons for careless driving causing death was the driver of the other vehicle in the crash, Julie Gunter, 24, of Pine Bluff, Wyo.
