June 30--With claims and counter claims flying back and forth between Shalimar and Pensacola, Okaloosa County Circuit Judge Thomas Remington has ordered mediation in a lawsuit filed by former deputies against Sheriff Larry Ashley. RemingtonissuedtheorderJune 23. It states that the Sheriff's Office and former deputies Rick Hord, Jon Bush and John Lee be "prepared for mediation in good faith" within 150 days of the date the case was filed. That would be Oct 14. The actual mediation would take place within 90 days after that. One item in dispute is whether Ashley can be sued as an individual by Hord, Bush and Lee under the Whistleblower Act. …
