Simi Valley Town Center loses Brookstone but occupancy climbs.

June 27--Just over a month after a new developer said it had stabilized tenant departure at the Simi Valley Town Center, big-name retailer Brookstone is gone, but the developer says occupancy has risen from 86 percent to 90 percent. The mall was purchased in December by Chicago-based Walton Street Capital LLC. Its partner, Colorado-based Alberta Development Partners, is developing the property. Last week, a count of stores open at the center revealed 19 of 118 spaces unoccupied. Many of the closed stores were dressed with advertisements directing shoppers to remaining tenant stores.
