June 26--Jim Glenn, who friends remember for his dedication to the armed services and the community, died Friday at the age of 82.

"He was a real gentleman," said Larry Sassano, president of the Economic Development Council of Okaloosa County.

"He'll be missed in this community because he was always out there, even as tired as he was from all his illnesses, he was out there because that was the way he was," Sassano said.

Born Nov. 15, 1928, in Perry, Iowa, Glenn was a fighter pilot who spent 35 years in the Air Force and flew 26 different aircraft. He flew in combat situations more than 200 times.
