June 25--F O R T W A L T O N BEACH -- An Ocean City-Wright fire truck responding to an accident Friday afternoon veered off Racetrack Road to avoid hitting a motorist who cut it off.

No one was injured, but the firefighters onboard admitted they were shook up after a wild ride that sent the truck through a ditch, between a tree and a utility pole and back onto the road.

"That was the scariest ride I ever took," Engineer Lonnie Thomas said.

The truck sustained major damage, particularly to its undercarriage.
