June 23--PANAMA CITY -- The monthly pass to ride the Bay Town Trolley will go up $5 as of July 1. The Bay County Transportation Planning Organization voted unanimously to raise the rate from $25 to $30 at its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday. The regular fare of $1.50 per passenger and a senior citizens rate of 75 cents will remain the same. A day pass price of $3 also will remain the same. Transportation planner for Bay County John Stanley told the TPO that the loss of a grant and costs for upkeep of the system were the reasons for the rate hike. Stanley did say ridership is up and the county sells about 745 monthly passes each month. …
