Monroe County real estate: Closed sales in May down 25 percent from last year.

June 22--The local real estate market is still idling, according to statistics released this week by the Indiana Association of Realtors.

But there is some good news, as well, with listings up and average prices climbing. Monroe County's real estate listings for the month of May were 22 percent higher than May 2010's listings, although the number of closed sales dropped 25.2 percent from last year. The median sales price in May was $158,000, compared to $150,000 a year ago -- an increase of 5.3 percent. But year to date, the median sales price has dropped 2.1 percent compared to 2010.
