Africa wants the African Growth and Opportunity Act's timeline extended for at least 10 years.
This, according to a communiqué from the African Ministerial Consultative Group Forum held in Lusaka, Zambia will enable the Agoa eligible countries to create predictability for investors.
In the communication the ministers also asked the US to extend the project from 2015 to 2025 saying that the extension would create certainty for investors to devote to the region since the future of Agoa and the Third Country fabric provision has tended to make Agoa unattractive to investment.
