A day after the Office of the Auditor General unearthed 500 ghost schools planted in the government database, the Ministry of Education has responded by calling for a nationwide schools census as part of the wider efforts to cut on leakages in the system.

According to a circular issued to all district education officers yesterday, the ministry Permanent Secretary, Mr Francis Xavier Lubanga, said the two-week exercise, which kicks off next Monday, will also cover both public and private secondary schools and universities.
