The diamond industry can have had few more famous supporters than movie legend Elizabeth Taylor, known for her glittering and prestigious diamond jewelry collection who passed away in March following long term health problems. Taylor was long known for her luxury jewelry and a number of remarkable diamonds bought by her fifth husband Richard Burton. Indeed, his first ever gift to her was a remarkable 33-carat Asscher cut diamond ring.

During her lifetime and two marriages to Burton, Taylor came to own some extraordinary pieces of jewelry, including a heart-shaped diamond set in yellow gold bought for Taylors 40th birthday. Nicknamed the Taj Mahal, the diamond is surrounded by rubies and smaller diamonds.
