ITALY'S Francesco Bruni (Bruni Racing) earned his first ever victory on the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) by claiming the Match Race Germany title in Langenargen on Sunday.

Bruni defeated Australia's four-time world champion Peter Gilmour (YANMAR Racing) 2-0 in the final.

The victory means the Italian trails France's current leader Damien Iehl, who won the season opener in Marseilles, by just two points in the tour standings after two stages.

He was consistent throughout the event in Germany, winning the qualifying stage to earn a direct entry into the semi-finals before defeating New Zealand's Phil Robertson (Waka Racing …
