Ferguson warms up for French Open test.

SPONDON youngster Sam Ferguson has warmed up for his first appearance at the French Open by playing two tournaments in Slovenia.

The 12-year-old will next week compete in the Longines Future Tennis Aces junior tournament, which takes place at Roland Garros.

And he was able to get in some practice on the clay courts in Maribor during two Tennis Europe competitions, before he flies out to Paris.

Ferguson reached the quarter-finals of the 14-andunder section of the first tournament, the ZTK Raiffeisen Open.

He was seeded ninth and lost 6-4, 6-2 to fourth seed Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore, of Spain.
