Tokyo, 30 May: The main opposition Liberal Democratic Party and its ally the New Komeito party agreed Monday to make final arrangements for submitting a no-confidence motion this week against Prime Minister Naoto Kan's Cabinet to the House of Representatives, possibly as early as Thursday, lawmakers of the parties said.

By presenting the motion, the two opposition parties intend to show their displeasure over the way the government has been handling the aftermath of the 11 March earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis, and aim to pressure Kan to step down.
