They might not have had much to sing about in recent years, but Dons fans can expect a rousing reception when they return to Pittodrie in August.

Hearty choruses of Stand Free, the Northern Lights and Come On You Reds should be ringing round the stadium after Aberdeen Football Club bosses agreed to set aside a 'singing section' for their more vocal followers.

The area in the Richard Donald Stand has been allocated following talks with supporters groups who reckoned it could help lift the atmosphere on match days.
