JOHOR BARU: For almost a decade, a syndicate smuggling cigarettes and other contraband had been using a double-storey house in Taman Sutera, near Taman Perling here, as a warehouse.
With sheets of zinc covering the front gates and fence, the syndicate was able to operate without raising the neighbours' suspicion.
That, however, came to an end yesterday in a joint operation by the Region Two marine police operations force and Taman Perling police, who raided the house at 2.30am.
