A boss at oil giant BP last night stressed the continued importance of the North Sea region to its operations.
The comment from Trevor Garlick, regional president for BP North Sea, came after the company said it had sold its majority stake in a British asset which includes the biggest onshore oil field in western Europe for up to GBP376million.
BP has disposed of its holding in Wytch Farm, Dorset, to French oil and gas company Perenco.
