BRISTOL City and Bristol Rovers have joined forces for a bid to stage games for the Rugby League World Cup in 2013.
The city missed out on matches in the 2018 football World Cup after England's bid was infamously ignored by FIFA in favour of Russia.
But Bristol could still have a taste of world cup sport after being invited to bid for rugby league's equivalent - which will be held in England and Wales.
