Following Barack Obama's announcement of the liquidation of Osama bin Laden, pundits and stand-up comedians in the US are now waiting for Donald Trump to demand that the President show "proof of death." You may recall that Trump generated reams of publicity from the news-starved US media by demanding that Obama show proof of citizenship. Trump used this oft-flogged issue as the spark-plug of his presidential quest.

Perhaps out of pique or perhaps realizing that the issue of his citizenship would refuse to fade away unless he took it by the horns, Obama finally authorized the release of a copy of his original birth certificate. Not surprisingly, it confirms that he was born in Hawaii and, therefore, a citizen by birth.

Also, not surprisingly, Trump claimed credit for pushing Obama to release the certificate for public view. And, again, not surprisingly, pundits and comedians expect Trump to make political and publicity capital out of the bin Laden killing to advance his presidential ambitions by demanding "proof of death."
