COMMISSIONER Chito Loyzaga was quoted recently as saying that the Philippine Sports Commission, whose coffers are always empty, is doing away with the criteria for Filipino athletes competing in the 26th Southeast Asian Games slated in November in Jakarta.
Speaking in the vernacular during an interview with sportswriter Eli Gabor, Mr. Loyzaga, son of basketball great King Caloy, said: Despite our criteria, its the NSAs that have the final say on whom to send to the SEA Games.
I beg to disagree with Mr. Loyzaga on this score.
