The recent acquisition of the global oil and gas information technology practice of SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) and the growing demand for oil exploration could help the Energy and Utilities business unit of Wipro cross the Rs 2,500-crore-mark in 2011-12.

"SAIC is a deep domain group and we bring the IT capabilities to this," Mr Anand Padmanabhan, Senior Vice-President and Global head - Energy and Utilities SBU, told Business Line.

While Mr Padmanabhan declined to comment on future growth, he said that he wanted to ensure that as a percentage of revenues he would maintain the position within his company. …
