As public protests over high food and fuel prices entered the third week, and the death toll jumped to five in four days, lawmakers have added their voice to calls for government to stop what they described as arrogance and reduce taxes on fuel.

MPs on the Natural Resources committee yesterday asked that the government uses part of the $400 million (about Shs920 billion) paid to Uganda in respect of a capital tax gains from Tullow-Heritage Oil deal to mitigate the current crisis.
