statesman news service NEW DELHI, 19 APRIL: Widespread use of alleged black money in poll-bound states has led the Income Tax department to a rich haul of about Rs 22 crore unaccounted cash from individuals from these states. The Income Tax Department has also detected tax evasion to the tune of Rs 50-60 crore. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) is working shoulder to shoulder with the Election Commission of India and as a result seized huge amount of cash in five states, said CBDT chairman Mr Sudhir Chandra.
