THE BEST sacrifice you can do during Holy Week is not attending prayer vigils or performing self-flagellation, but queuing at the confessional box and enduring the little shame that goes with coming clean of your sins to a priest.
It takes a lot of spirit and sacrifice to go to confession because you have to line up to the confessional and, tell your sins to a priest, which gives you a little shame and embarrassment, said Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz.
This makes confession the greatest penitence one can do in the most solemn week celebrated by Catholics, said Cruz in an interview. It entails sacrifice, which is the spirit of Lent, he added.
