Heightened political temperatures could spell doom for tourism, an industry spokesperson has said.
Citing post-election violence when the industry went on its knees, Mombasa and Coast Tourist Association executive officer Millicent Odhiambo warned that any slight indication that the country was not peaceful would destroy gains made in reviving the multi-billion sector.
Ms Odhiambo said it has taken the country four years to fix the damage caused by the violence in 2007 and 2008. She added that it will be unfortunate if the same situation was replayed as the country prepares for another election next year.
