CAPITEC The honeymoon continues Capitec continues to chip away at the market dominance of the big four banks. It fills a niche in a market where they have been unable, or unwilling, to make headway, and in 2010 there was no let-up in the rate of its growth of the past decade, which has been spectacular.

Capitec acquired 700 000 new clients in the past year, bringing its total to 2,8m. If the trend continues, it could overtake Nedbank, which has 4,9m clients.
