Judge raises Banting duo's jail sentence.

SHAH ALAM: Two men, who had pleaded guilty to disposing of bodies in the Banting murders, had their sentences increased from seven years to 20 years by the High Court yesterday.

On Oct 15, the Telok Datok magistrate's court had sentenced odd-job worker K. Sarawanan, 19, and mechanic U. Suresh, 26, to seven years' jail.

Although sentenced to a total of 28 years for four counts of disposing of evidence, the magistrate had then ordered that the sentences run concurrently, which meant that they would have served a maximum of seven years.
