from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency NEW DELHI, March 31 (Bernama) -- Regardless of a sharp drop in India's demographic growth, as the latest national census revealed, the population has reached 1.21 billion people.

Based on a provisional 2011 Census data, released by the Ministry of Home Affairs today, population growth was at 17.64 per cent as compared to 21.15 in 2001, when the last count was done.

Between both the demographic studies, there had been an increase of 181 million people.
