from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- The government has no plan to allow local authority enforcement officers to carry weapons, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin said the local authorities could employ other methods in enhancing their enforcement capabilities other than using weapons.

This includes increasing their omnipresence, issuing compounds, taking legal action and employing "psychological methods," he said.
