MENINGITIS victim Tilly Lockey will receive a new set of hands today.
Little Tilly was struck down by the bug when she was just 15 months old and doctors were forced to amputate both of her hands in order to save the now five-year-old's life.
And since then, her parents, Sarah and Adam, of Tow Law, County Durham, have tirelessly dedicated themselves to raising money to buy Tilly the best prosthetic hands available.
With the help of the Chronicle, they set up the Give Tilly a Hand Appeal to begin their fundraising drive.
