The government has said that oil prices would be much higher had it not been for the current levelled competitive environment in the country.

Addressing the press in Kampala on Friday, Eng. Hilary Onek, the Energy minister, said that Ugandans would be paying about Shs4,916 had the government not put in place measures that encourage competition so as to limit dealers from unnecessary increments on pump prices.
