Western Visayas workers demand P97 daily pay increase.

ILOILO CITYWorkers in Western Visayas are demanding a P97-increase in daily minimum wages amid steep increases in prices of oil products.

The Negros Occidental-based Trade Union of Filipino Workers filed a wage increase petition on Feb. 1 at the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board demanding the increase from the current P265 per day minimum wage in the region.

Wennie Sancho, one of the boards labor representatives, expressed support for the petition.

Common sense will tell us that the increase is necessary for the workers because the price of oil products has increased four times in March …
