Lost choral work gets a second lease of life at a city concert.

THE Derwent Singers and their opposite number in Nottingham, Sinfonia Chorale, are joining forces in Derby Cathedral on Saturday for a spectacular choral work from 18th-century Portugal.

Interest in baroque music from Spain, Portugal and Latin America has been a major growth area in recent years. One of the most exciting rediscoveries has been the Te Deum by Antonio Teixeira (pronounced, roughly, Tay-share-a).

The Derwent Singers' Richard Roddis, who will be conducting the piece, is excited to be part of the rediscovery.
