The reconstruction of Kasubi tombs destroyed by a mysterious fire in March last year will take 18 months, a Buganda kingdom official said yesterday.
The project coordinator, Eng. Jonathan Nsubuga, said the reconstruction of the mausoleum of four former Buganda kings will cost $1m (about Shs2.2b).
A local constructor, Omega Construction, will do the job under the supervision of a technical and cultural team from the kingdom.
"The contractor is expected to build an artificial anthill in the vicinity. We want to make this place look like it was a hundred years ago," Mr Nsubuga said.
