Thailand: Prime Minister Abhisit says government can cap diesel price at 30 baht a litre until end of April.

Section: General News - Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva insisted on March 15 the government could cap the diesel price at 30 baht a litre until the end of April as he had earlier promised, the Bangkok Post reports.

He dismissed a prediction by censure debate leader Mingkwan Saengsuwan of the Puea Thai Party that in doing so the government would exhaust the State Oil Fund within this month.

"If you accuse me of putting the oil fund in the red, why don't you dare to blame [former] prime minister Thaksin [Shinawatra] for his management of the oil fund that caused it to be 90 billion baht in the red?" Mr Abhisit said.
