For most it will be a fun girls' day out, or a chance for mums and daughters to enjoy some time together.
Others who attend the Woman South West show in Bristol next month might be able to find advice about financial matters, or even discover a new interest.
But for Kay Hocking, pictured right, and her daughter Michele Weeks, it will be far more than that.
The fact that they have managed to organise the show - which will have more than 100 exhibitors, plus fashion shows, free makeovers, haircuts and manicures - will be a huge personal triumph.
Kay came up with the idea for the exhibition in the University of the West of England exhibition and conference centre, partly because of fond memories of Bristol's old Woman's World Exhibition but also because she wanted to do something to help Michele, and other women like her.
She explains: "The Woman South West show is going to have a Sex and the City theme. It's sophisticated, and it's about women going out together and having a good time.
"But there's more to being a woman than that, and this show is going to reflect the sort of things that happen to women in their lives. …
