1. Report by correspondent says that the federal government yesterday expressed worries over the non- functional refineries and epileptic public power supply across the country. Speaking at the summit on Energy and Sustainable Economic Growth, organized by the Energy Commission of Nigeria [ECN] in Abuja, the minister of Science and Technology, Professor Mohammed Abubakar, noted that the energy sector has enormous challenges, which requires an urgent solution. He further noted that studies on electricity demand by ECN have shown that even with the on-going efforts in the sector, the installed generation capacity would not be able to meet the requirements of the projected growth rate in the country for attaining the Millennium Development Goals [MDG].
