statesman news service KOLKATA, 8 March: A Trinamul Congress supporter, Sheikh Alamgir (36), who was beaten up allegedly by some CPI-M cadres near his Barodighrui residence at Pursurah in Hooghly on Sunday evening, died at SSKM Hospital this afternoon. Alamgir became the eighth victim of political violence in Pursurah since 2009 Lok Sabha polls. Alamgir, was driven out of his home by CPI-M cadres more than three months back. During that period he stayed at a relief camp near Pursurah block Trinamul Congress office. He was returning home around 7.35 pm on Sunday when about 15 CPI-M cadres, armed with lathis and rods, accosted him and beat him up. The assault continued for at least 15 …
