from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will be standing for the first time for a seat in the World Heritage Committee and she will be represented by its Commissioner of Heritage Prof Emeritus Datuk Zuraina Majid.

Information Communication and Culture Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Kamaruddin Siaraf, said tonight that Malaysia was ready to be appointed to the seat as it had been protecting and preserving its heritage according to the Heritage Act.

"We ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1988 and this is the first time we are standing, because we feel ready now," he added.
