ENERGY EFFICIENCY will GO up, says SURVEY deepak razdan NEW DELHI, 27 FEB:In addition to raising its energy efficiency by 20 per cent in five years, India has decided to meet climate change challenges by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 20 to 25 per cent (of 2005 level) by 2020, the Economic Survey (ES) for 2010-2011 has revealed. However, India is not sure of the resources required for achieving this domestic mitigation goal. The Survey says, the resources required to achieve this objective will need to be mobilised from various sources, and that Indias initiatives will succeed if the global framework of actions is effective and supportive.
