Astana, 28 February: A Kazakh presidential candidate, Salim Oten, has filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court against the Central Electoral Commission [CEC] to request that incumbent Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev be dropped as a candidate for the presidency.

"I have submitted a lawsuit to the Supreme Court against the CEC and Nazarbayev. I believe that the president is abusing his office and has launched his election campaign too early and therefore should be removed from the list of presidential candidates," he told journalists in Astana today.
