BALER, AuroraTwo lawmakers said it would be wrong to drastically slash the military budget despite corruption issues hounding the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The military still has needs. Lets not take away money from the soldier. If we find excess funds in the military, lets give it for basic social services, such as education, said Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara.

He said the entire military organization should not be made to suffer if its officials were not transparent in the use of public funds.
