Bahrain's unions yesterday joined calls for a national dialogue as it emerged workers who protested at the Pearl Roundabout were facing salary cuts.

The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) announced its support of seven societies, who are attempting to reach an agreement with demonstrators camped at Pearl Roundabout.

"The federation has decided to support the seven political societies," said GFBTU secretary-general Salman Mahfoodh.
