[Unattributed report: "Biased Accusations Aimed at Destroying 21 January Investigations"]

The state police have responded to Tirana prosecutors' accusations that they leaked information related to the 21 January investigations. Through a special press statement the state police described the prosecutors' allegations as unprecedented and called on them to open investigations, if necessary.

At the same time the state police reminded the prosecutors that the first thing they did when they began investigating the killing of the four people was to exclude the state police from the investigations. Besides, the journalists have admitted that their source of information was the prosecutor's office, the statement said.

"The state police, who are fully committed to enforcing the rule of law, fighting criminality, and protecting public order, were totally surprised to hear the accusations made by the prosecutor's office against the police …
