Monday morning Kenya becomes the first African country to introduce a vaccine against pneumonia as a routine immunisation tool.
For years, the disease has been one of the biggest killers of children in most parts of the world, more so in poor countries like Kenya.
The vaccine will now be available to children during routine immunisation and will go a long way in reducing child mortality.
Kenya is one of the few countries in Africa that have established a relatively efficient national immunisation network with high returns in overall coverage.
