A bill under consideration in North Dakota would expand access to the state's prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) to addiction treatment counselors. The bill, which has the support of the addiction treatment provider community, would allow counselors to find out what controlled substances have been dispensed or prescribed to an individual. This is the first PDMP that would allow counselors to have access, according to Kurt Snyder, chair of the North Dakota Addiction Treatment Providers Coalition.
