President Ma Ying-jeou yesterday gave red envelopes to thousands of residents of Tongxiao, Miaoli County, following a tradition that he has practiced for over a decade.

Ma arrived at Majiazhuang, or Ma Family Village, early in the morning to visit residents, most of whom have a common ancestry with the president.
