HP has joined Dell, Lenovo, Samsung and others in confirming it will be replacing faulty Sandy Bridge chipsets and has halted manufacturing until the problem is resolved.

The company said that the recall only affected systems bought after 9 January and the bulk of these were consumer devices. Only one PC system has been recalled from the EMEA sales region and no commercial notebooks, ProLiant servers or workstations are affected.

"On 31 January 2011 HP stopped manufacturing products with the affected Intel technology and initiated a shipment hold on products in HP and channel inventory," the company told V3.co.uk in an email.
