The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is one of the most important ministries in the Islamic Republic that has the responsibility to implement and explain the system's issues in foreign policy affairs, saw its 10th foreign minister in office on Sunday [30 January] of the current week. After Manuchehr Mottaki, this ministry managed its affairs during past one month under the supervision of Head of Atomic Energy Organisation Ali Akbar Salehi and will now spend the remaining 2.5 years of the 10th government with Ali Akbar Salehi as its minister [Salehi was initially appointed as caretaker foreign minister after Mottaki's dismissal].
Although, one of the criticisms that is made against Salehi is the fact that he is not an insider of Foreign Ministry, however he has been successful in occupying the office of Foreign Ministry's head by obtaining 146 votes in his favour. Meanwhile, some experts believe that he entered the Foreign Ministry at the most opportune time. In their opinion, keeping in view the regional developments, the new foreign minister can exhibit best performance in this direction.
