Lukanga delivered a resounding message to the fraternity as boxers showcased immense talent at the just-concluded National Open Boxing Championship at Mexico Gardens in Kyengera on Sunday night.

After missing three of UABF's calendar events last year, Lukanga Boxing Club returned to the amateur fold to oust KBC as champions of Uganda's most prestigious boxing tournament.

The Zana team owned by Sam Lukanga won their 12th senior crown, bagging four weight division titles with club captain Atanus Mugerwa (bantamweight) being named the best pugilist of the tournament. "Mugerwa has just got his groove back. He is very fast, scores at will. …
